Unit 1 (AI Fundamentals):
Fundamentals of AI, machine learning, and neural networks as applied to mechanical systems.
Unit 2 (Optimization and Maintenance):
Predictive maintenance, fault detection, and optimization of manufacturing processes using AI algorithms.
Non-Destructive Testing (4 Credits)
Unit 1 (NDT Principles):
Principles and applications of NDT methods including Ultrasonic testing, Radiography, Magnetic Particle testing, and Liquid Penetrant testing.
Unit 2 (Inspection and Standards):
Defect characterization, quality control standards, and material inspection techniques.
Advanced Machine Tools and Automation (3 Credits)
Unit 1 (Machine Tools and Non-traditional Machining):
Design and kinematics of advanced machine tools, and non-traditional machining processes (EDM, ECM, Laser Machining).
Unit 2 (Automation and Control):
Automation principles, tool wear monitoring, and adaptive control systems in machining.
Supply Chain Management (3 Credits)
Unit 1 (Logistics and Inventory):
Logistics, inventory control models, and procurement strategies.
Unit 2 (Value Chain and Network Design):
Value chain analysis, lean manufacturing integration, and supply chain network design for mechanical industries.
Minor Project (2 Credits)
Independent or small-group research focusing on designing, analyzing, or fabricating a mechanical sub-
system or component, complete with technical documentation, literature review, and application of engineering principles.
